How do I compress a PDF without uploading it?▾
Drop your PDF onto fwip. The entire compression runs in your browser using Ghostscript compiled to WebAssembly. Your PDF is read from your device, compressed on your CPU, and the result is saved back to your device. No server is involved at any point.
How much can I reduce PDF file size?▾
Typically 40–86% smaller depending on the content. PDFs with large embedded images see the biggest reductions. Already-optimised PDFs may see smaller gains.
Is there a file size limit for PDF compression?▾
The browser version handles files up to about 200 MB comfortably. For larger files or batch processing hundreds of PDFs, the offline bundle has no file size limit.
Does compressing a PDF reduce quality?▾
fwip uses Ghostscript’s /ebook preset which downsamples images to 150 DPI. Text and vector graphics remain crisp. For most documents the quality difference is invisible.
Can I compress multiple PDFs at once?▾
