Three steps. Zero uploads.

01
Drop
Drop any file into fwip. It stays on your device.
02
Set password
Choose a strong password. This is the only key that can decrypt your file.
03
Encrypt
Your file is encrypted with AES-256 locally in your browser. Download the encrypted file.

Your file never leaves your device.

Most file encryption tools upload your file to a server, encrypt it there, and send it back. That means your unencrypted file passes through someone else's infrastructure. fwip encrypts entirely in your browser using AES-256. Your file stays on your machine the entire time.

fwip works differently. The processing engine runs entirely in your browser. Your file is read from your device, processed on your CPU, and the result is saved back to your device. No server is involved. We literally cannot see your file.

No server processing

Everything runs on your device using WebAssembly. Your file never touches a network.

Frequently asked.

How do I encrypt a file without uploading it?
Drop your file into fwip, set a password, and click Encrypt. The encryption runs entirely in your browser using AES-256. Your file never leaves your device.
What encryption algorithm does fwip use?
AES-256 — the Advanced Encryption Standard with a 256-bit key. It's the same standard used by governments, banks, and security professionals worldwide.
Can I decrypt the file later?
Yes. Drop the encrypted file into fwip, enter the same password, and click Decrypt. The original file is restored.
What happens if I forget the password?
The file cannot be recovered without the password. fwip has no server, no account, and no recovery mechanism. This is by design — only you can access your encrypted files.
What file types can I encrypt?
Any file. Documents, images, videos, archives, databases — fwip encrypts the raw file data regardless of type.
Is browser-based encryption secure?
Yes. fwip uses the Web Crypto API built into your browser, which provides the same cryptographic primitives used for HTTPS connections. The encryption is real AES-256, not a toy cipher.
