Your videos never leave your machine.

Most online GIF makers upload your video to a server, process it remotely, and slap a watermark on the result unless you pay. Your video passes through systems you don't control.

fwip works differently. The GIF engine runs entirely in your browser. Your video is read from your device, processed on your CPU, and the result is saved back to your device. No server is involved. We literally cannot see your file.

No server processing

Everything runs on your device using WebAssembly. Your file never touches a network.

Frequently asked.

How do I make a GIF from a video?
Drop your video into fwip, set the start and end time to select your clip, choose your preferred FPS and width, preview the result, then click Make GIF. The entire process runs in your browser — no upload required.
What FPS should I use for a GIF?
12 FPS is the sweet spot for most GIFs — smooth enough to look good, small enough to share easily. Use 8 FPS for smaller files or 15-24 FPS for smoother animation. Higher FPS means larger file size.
Why is my GIF so large?
GIF file size depends on three factors: dimensions (width), frame rate (FPS), and duration. To reduce size, try a smaller width (320-480px), lower FPS (8-10), or shorter clip. fwip shows an estimated file size before you convert.
What's the maximum GIF duration?
fwip supports GIFs up to 30 seconds, but we recommend keeping them under 10 seconds. Shorter GIFs are smaller, load faster, and loop more naturally.
Does fwip add a watermark to GIFs?
No. fwip never adds watermarks, logos, or branding to your output. The GIF you download is exactly what you made — nothing added.
How does fwip's GIF quality compare to other tools?
fwip uses an optimised palette generation process that analyses your specific video content to produce the best possible colour palette for each GIF. This produces noticeably better colour accuracy than tools that use a generic 256-colour palette.
