Your audio never leaves your machine.

Most online audio compressors upload your file to a remote server for processing. Your podcasts, music, and voice memos pass through systems you don't control.

fwip works differently. The processing engine runs entirely in your browser. Your audio is read from your device, processed on your CPU, and the result is saved back to your device. No server is involved. We literally cannot see your file.

No server processing

Everything runs on your device using WebAssembly. Your file never touches a network.

Frequently asked.

How much smaller will my audio file be?
It depends on the original format and the bitrate you choose. A WAV file compressed to 128kbps MP3 can be 10× smaller. An MP3 re-encoded at a lower bitrate typically saves 30-60%.
Does compression affect audio quality?
Yes, lossy compression removes audio data to reduce file size. At 192kbps most people can't hear the difference. At 128kbps quality is still good for podcasts and casual listening. 64kbps and 32kbps are best for voice-only content.
What bitrate should I choose?
For music: 192kbps (high quality) or 128kbps (good quality, smaller files). For podcasts: 128kbps or 64kbps. For voice memos or speech: 32kbps is sufficient.
Can I keep the original format?
Yes. Choose "Same as input" to re-encode in the original format at a lower bitrate. Or choose MP3 for maximum compatibility and compression.
Does this work without an internet connection?
After the first load, yes. The audio engine is cached in your browser and works fully offline.
