Frequently asked.

Are conditional comments preserved?▾
Yes. fwip only removes standard HTML comments (<!-- ... -->). Conditional comments used by older IE versions (<!--[if ...) are preserved to avoid breaking legacy compatibility.
Does it minify inline script and style tags?▾
No. fwip focuses on HTML-level minification: removing comments, collapsing whitespace between tags, and trimming redundant spaces. Use a dedicated JS/CSS minifier for inline code.
Is the DOCTYPE preserved?▾
Yes. The DOCTYPE declaration is not a comment and is preserved exactly as written. Only standard HTML comments and excess whitespace are removed.
Does it remove attribute quotes?▾
No. fwip takes a safe approach and preserves all attribute quotes. Removing quotes can break HTML in edge cases with special characters or spaces in values.
