PDF to Excel

AI finds the table.

You get a spreadsheet.

Drop a PDF and our AI automatically detects tables, identifies rows and columns, and exports structured data as an editable .xlsx file. Numbers, percentages, and currencies are parsed automatically. Works with scanned documents too — OCR runs automatically when needed.

AI-powered. Still on-device.

Most online PDF-to-Excel tools upload your document to a server. fwip runs Microsoft Table Transformer models directly in your browser — your file never leaves your machine.

fwip works differently. The AI detection engine runs entirely in your browser. Your PDF is read from your device, processed on your CPU, and the result is saved back to your device. No server is involved. We literally cannot see your file.

No server processing

Everything runs on your device using WebAssembly. Your file never touches a network.

Frequently asked.

How does AI table detection work in the browser?
fwip uses Microsoft’s Table Transformer models (DETR-based) converted to run in your browser via WebAssembly. The detection model finds table locations, the structure model identifies rows and columns, and then text is mapped from the PDF text layer into Excel cells.
Does PDF to Excel preserve the table structure?
The AI detects rows and columns and maps them into Excel cells. Numbers, percentages, and currencies are automatically parsed. Simple tabular data converts accurately; complex merged cells may need minor cleanup.
Can I extract a specific table from a multi-page PDF?
Yes. Navigate to the page with the table you want and click Detect Tables. You can also switch to manual mode and draw a selection box around any table area.
Does PDF to Excel work on scanned documents?
The AI can detect tables in scanned PDFs visually, but it needs a text layer to extract the actual data. For scanned documents, use our Make PDF Searchable tool first to add an invisible text layer.
Is there a page limit for PDF to Excel conversion?
The browser version handles PDFs with hundreds of pages and up to 200 MB. The AI models (~30 MB total) are downloaded once and cached for offline use.
