Otter, Fireflies, Fathom, Granola — same shape. fwip runs OpenAI's Whisper model directly in your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded. Nothing is stored.

fwip works differently. The processing engine runs entirely in your browser. Your audio is read from your device, processed on your CPU, and the result is saved back to your device. No server is involved. We literally cannot see your file.

How private is this really?▾
The Whisper model runs on your CPU via WebAssembly. The audio file is read into your browser tab and processed locally — there is no upload step because there is no server-side transcription path. Open DevTools → Network and you'll see no audio leaving your machine.
Does fwip store my transcript?▾
No. There is no account, no transcript history, and no per-user state. When you close the tab, the transcript is gone unless you export it.
How accurate is it?▾
fwip uses Whisper Tiny — OpenAI's smallest English speech model. Accuracy is good for clear speech with low background noise (typical Zoom/Teams audio); it degrades on noisy rooms, heavy accents, or overlapping voices. For verbatim legal or medical transcription, use a service that gives you human review.
How long does it take?▾
About 2-3× the audio length. A 30-minute meeting takes around 60-90 minutes to transcribe. Processing happens in 30-second chunks so you see partial transcript as it goes.
Can I export to subtitle formats?▾
Yes — TXT, SRT, and VTT. SRT and VTT include timestamps and can be loaded directly into video editors or players.
Why is this private when other transcription tools aren't?▾
Other tools route audio through their cloud because their AI runs on their servers. fwip downloads the Whisper model (~40MB, cached after first use) and runs the same model in your browser. The trade-off is processing time — slower than a cloud GPU, but your meeting never leaves the room.
